Day 5 - Porto

The fifth day we spent in Porto. We got up early in the morning and drove to Porto. It took just an hour. We had a serious worry about parking but European Football Championship solved the situation for us. We used underground parking in Estadio do Dragao. To the center we took public transport called Metro, which was new, clean and very sharp. First of all we wanted to see a bridge connecting both banks of the river Douro valley. The ponte Luis was increadible constraction which was designed by Mr. Eiffel himself. The upper floor is used by Metro and walkers and the lower is used by ordinary traffic. From the bridge we, for the very first time, saw the quarter of porto wine cellars. We visited two cellars - Krohn and Offley. The guided tour is for free and at the end of the tour you are allowed to taste wine. After that we had a very nice walk through the city center and everything seemed to be perfect until we entered our hotel. It was overbooked and we got a room in another hotel. It is true it was a three-star hotel and we had supposed to have just two-star but it was not directly in the center. We decided to play a confident tourist and decided to find it by ourselves. We knew the name of the street so no reason for worries. Finally we went along the whole street and finished with house number 2500. There we lost our courage and called to Tomas, who looked up the exact address of the hotel and we had to go back approx. 2 km to number 650. No matter how tired we were we decided to do one more evening walk to the fabulous bridge. So that was day five!
